The IB’s Core Elements

EE: Extended Essay
Guided by a faculty supervisor, students undertake an independent research project in a subject of their choice. After formulating a focused research question, they engage in rigorous academic inquiry culminating in a 4,000-word paper. While demanding, this process provides invaluable preparation for university-level research. Students who succeed typically select a topic they are genuinely passionate about and demonstrate strong time-management skills.

CAS: Creativity, Activity and Service
The CAS programme offers a premier opportunity for students to explore new passions and cultivate existing talents outside the classroom. Over an 18-month period, a dedicated CAS coordinator guides students as they build an experiential portfolio and engage in meaningful, structured reflections on their growth.

TOK: Theory of knowledge
This course challenges students to question the very nature of knowledge, fostering deep critical thinking skills. By exploring fundamental inquiries—such as whether absolute truth exists, if bias is entirely avoidable, and how human values shape what we accept as fact—TOK encourages students to reflect on how they know what they claim to know.
